Other activities of Stokes Bay UC
Several activities of Stokes Bay UC occur outside of Sundays, outside of Stokes Bay, and sometimes, outside of Kangaroo Island. On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, the congregation joins worship at Kingscote.

Story
A resilient community, shaped by change
The Parndana and Stokes Bay congregations share a close connection, shaped through challenge and faith.
The Parndana congregation flourished with the local population under the Soldier Settlement Scheme of the 1950s and '60s. The scheme's demise, and subsequent population decline, saw spiritual and practical support provided by the Stokes Bay congregation.
The Stokes congregation worshiped in the community hall on the corner of Bark Hut and Stokes Bay Roads. Despite its secular ownership, the location is still occasionally referred to as 'Amen Corner'.
The Stokes Bay congregation has also experienced its ups and downs, with January 2020 etched into our collective memory...
Rising from the ashes
The Stokes Bay Community Hall was substantially renovated in the late 2010s, with an opening ceremony held in November 2019 complete with fireworks.
Incredibly, the property was decimated on 3 January 2020 by the massive Ravine bushfire that devastated around one-third of Kangaroo Island.
Parndana was the obvious choice for temporary accommodation while the Stokes Bay buildings were rebuilt. The Stokes Bay congregation returned to Amen Corner in November 2023 when the rebuilt hall was opened.
And while Stokes Bay entered a new season of life, the Parndana property is now awaiting its own revival.
